The Mutations

A mutation on a Monster card is a special attribute that modifies the card itself on two aspects :
The art of the card
The statistics of the card
It drastically boosts the monster, making it possible for a Common card to be among the strongest cards of the game.
An item cannot have a mutation.
All the in the game have a chance to have a mutation.
A mutation is defined by the values of the 2 genes placed at the index 21 and 22 of the DNA as following:
Find below the 8 mutation patterns and supplies based on this genes:
Mutation | Pattern included in the genes 21/22 | Frequency | Rarity (all cards) |
---|---|---|---|
The "Polymorph" class is special as it has been developed like a mutation. It has the highest supply and is more a nineth monster class than a mutation. The supply of the Polymorph is 805.
A Polymorph has no dedicated art and no stat by itself, except an attack named "DMTing". This attack transforms the polymorph into a Natomon that is not valid in the GEN 1 (based on the "0eb" pattern). This attack is fired first in a special round in the duel (before the attacking round, more info here)
A Polymorph can only morph into a basic monster (including Dragon, Unicorn, Gryphon, Phoenix, Kraken, Hydra, Manticore or Minotaur). If the resulting Natomon is a Polymorph or an Item, the Polymorph "DMTing" attack is fired again, until morphing into a basic monster.
Technical info: As Natomon are generated based on DMT, every block number generates a unique Natomon with its own DNA. This process is used to obtain a new Natomon that will never be minted in GEN 1. The Polymorph selects a random block number that has not the "0eb" pattern in its Bitcoin bit field and generate the corresponding Natomon.
A Polymorph transforms into a new Natomon monster and acquires all of its statistics. Its rarity is fixed to "Polymorph" but the stats of the Natomon are based, like all other Natomon, on the resulting Natomon rarity. For example, if the Polymorph transforms into a Rare Unicorn, its rarity will be fixed to "Polymorph" but all of its stats will be calculated based on the "Rare" rarity explained here. This is the case for the GIF below.
As the Polymorph rarity is fixed to "Polymorph", its background (which is defined by the rarity of the card) is also fixed to a gradient purple (this also prevents cheating/scamming while trading the cards).
Every other statistics of the card are generated based on the Natomon DNA (block number) randomly selected.
The Famous mutation is the most widespread of the mutation with 49 Famous monster cards. It is still less than 0.60 % of the cards.
Simply but lucratively, the Famous mutation doubles the Natomon Fame Points.
Your goal is to earn as much Fame Points as possible? Play Famous Natomon.
Random yellow particles everywhere.
Only 48 monster cards have the mutation Paralleled.
The Paralleled mutation does not give bonus statistics, but much better. It grants the Natomon the ability to completely ignore the Armor of its opponent. You are facing an immortal Armored ? End it with a Paralleled Natomon.
The Paralleled monsters are really different:
All the colors of the entire card are reversed, making Paralleled monsters truly unique. These cards have colors that are not even coded in the rendering script but converted in real time.
The Paralleled 😁
Only 48 monster cards have the mutation Shiny.
The Shiny mutation grants a boost of 25% on all the statistics of the monster : Armor, Health Points, Dodge chance, Crit chance, Crit damge, Attack 1 Power, Attack 1 Speed, Attack 1 Accuracy, Attack 2 Power, Attack 2 Speed, Attack 2 Accuracy and Fame Points. That is pretty huge.
It is characterized by a multicolor halo on the entire card.
Only 48 monster cards have the mutation Armored.
The Armored focuses on the defensive statistics on the monster. It grants a boost of 35% of the Armor and Health Points of the monster.
A higher Armor amount is incredibly powerful because it prevents the Natomon from taking too much damage. Increase this effect by equipping defensive items that gives bonus Armor and Health Points to be immortal.
The armored monsters oscillate between their original colors and shades of gray to display their resistance.
Only 48 monster cards have the mutation Augmented.
The Augmented mutation overcharges the Natomon and grants them a bonus of 30% for its 2 Attacks' Power, Speed and Accuracy. Strike hard and fast.
The Augmented cards have a glitch effect on its statistics.
Only 48 monster cards have the mutation Chameleon. Do not underestimate this mutation.
The Chameleon mutation does not give flat bonus statistics, but a new ability. The ability to change its element on demand. Your Natomon is of element "fire" and you are facing a Natomon of element "water"? Turn the situation around and change your Natomon element from "fire" to "grass".
Click on the Element of the card to change it as you wish. The background of the art is also updated consequently.
Only 47 monster cards have the mutation Cursed.
The Cursed mutation is a powerful alternative of the Shiny one. As for Shiny, the Cursed grants a boost of of all statistics of the monster (Armor, Health Points, Dodge chance, Crit chance, Crit damag, Attack 1 Power, Attack 1 Speed, Attack 1 Accuracy, Attack 2 Power, Attack 2 Speed, Attack 2 Accuracy) but in exchange of 50% of its Fame Points.
The Cursed Natomon might be used to win the important duel where .
It is characterized by a darkness halo on the entire card. Look at that "Rare" card stats. Not your typical "Rare" card.
Finally, the last but not the least mutation is Ghost. Only 35 monster cards have this mutation, making it the rarest.
The Ghost mutation focuses on the defensive statistics on the monster. It grants a boost of 100% to the Dodge chance of the monster.
The best Ghost monsters can reach 36% of dodge. Good luck to their opponents.
The Ghost monsters are fading in and out. .
To wrap it up, the mutations are implemented for several reasons.
The first one is to fully exploit what DMT has to offer. The possibility to create infinite variations of arts and stats (thus cards).
The Polymorph Natomon are good examples because the resulting Natomon of a Polymorph DMTing will NEVER be minted in GEN 1 but they exist, somewhere, so we had to bring them to life, even temporarily.
The Paralleled Natomon are good examples too. The colors of their Art and the card itself are not developed/coded in the script. They are calculated and rendered based on actual color of the Natomon.
This brings more uniqueness in art and stats of every card.
We also wanted to bring more dynamism in the card and interactivity with the user. Aren't you tired of fixed 64x64 pixels pictures? We are.
Some of the rarest cards are animated.
You can the mutation text on the card to have it explained or the Paralleled cards to make them stop flipping around.
You can click on different parts of the card to make it evolve (Polymorph DMTing, Chameleon Element, etc.)
One of our main goal is also to give the possibility to every monster card (even the least rares, Common) to be extremely powerful, rare, valuable and unique.
Finally, this adds a layer of strategy in deck building for the dueling card game.
If you are lucky, it can transform into a Natomon that has a mutation or a even a God
